An eternal perspective brings hope, even in the midst of
tragedy. Our lives are short, no matter how many earthly years we live. Peter
says it is “for a little while.” (1 Peter 1:6) Our troubles are seen as “light
and momentary.” (2 Corinthians 4:17) Our lives spoken of as a “wisp” (James
4:14) or a “breath.” (Psalm 144:40 In God’s eyes, a thousand years is fleeting!
But do
not forget this one thing, dear friends. With the Lord, a day is like a
thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day. 2 Peter 3:8
This perspective keeps us holding
on to the hope of heaven. Our bodies will wear out eventually. We will all die
one day. And Jesus offers us hope each and every day, heavenly blessings from
His love as we wait. He offers us peace on this earth.
“I have
told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will
have trouble. But take heart. I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Jesus does not
mince words. We WILL have trouble in this world. No one comes through life
without struggles. But remember. Jesus overcame them all on the cross. He died
for you and for me. Hang on to hope. Heaven is right around the corner, just a
breath away.
Jesus,
Thank You for hope. In times of trouble, You promise peace.
Give us a heavenly perspective today, in the midst of any trial and trouble. We
look to You.
Amen
