As older women of faith, we are called to
teach the younger women. (See Titus 2) Gaining wisdom from God is a life-long
process and none of us will ever understand all that God has for us, but as we
age, we can look back with perspective, understanding how Jesus, our Savior,
has seen us through it all. Living for Him is such a blessing.
The words that begin Psalm 1 remind me of
the older women of faith in my life. I have been blessed to have many of them.
They act as mentors, mothers, sisters and best friends. The deep fellowship of
studying God’s Word together has such a richness, and a closeness unlike any
other.
Blessed is the one who does not walk in
step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the
company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and whp
meditates on His law, day and night. That person is like a tree planted by
streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not
wither-whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:1-3
A life spent living and delighting in God’s
Word, meditating on it day and night can be seen in the life of these women of
faith. They know God. They follow His Word. They delight in it and live by it.
They do not wither. Their spirits shine with the love of Christ through it all.
Let it be so for us as we age.
Father,
Thank You for the
blessings of the elders in our lives. We want to follow their example and train
the next generation in Your ways. Give us Your wisdom.
In Jesus name,
Amen
