The book of John is
filled with so much of the life and love of Jesus, the profound and deep truth
that Jesus was there before the foundations of the earth, one with God, and
born a man. He is the Word of God come to life in the flesh (John 1)
I want to focus on
John 17 this week. I simply love this chapter and never tire of reading the
touching prayers of Christ Himself shortly before His death. Did you know He
prayed for you? He still intercedes for us. He is our mediator, the One who brought
us to His Father, the One who died for us and will bring us home to heaven. One
with God. One with us. And Jesus prays:
“And now,
Father, glorify Me in Your presence with the glory I had with You before the
world began. I have revealed You to those whom You gave Me out of the world.
They were Yours. You gave them to Me and they have obeyed Your Word. John 17:5-6
Jesus is thankful
for you and for me. We will see in the coming days how He prays for us. He
longs to be with us face-to-face. At the time He spoke these prayers, He
understands His time on earth is short. His agony on the cross is very close
and He also understands He will soon be back with the Father.
Through Jesus, we
know and see God. We are His. Now and always.
Jesus,
We praise You for these beautiful words that speak of Your
heart for us. You are now in full glory awaiting the time we will alal be
together. Keep us one in Spirit and in truth.
Amen
