The last days began as Jesus ascended into heaven. His
disciples believed His return was imminent. The apostle Paul, in his epistles,
made sure the followers of Christ were ready for His return at any moment.
Followers over the decades and centuries and millennia have believed Jesus
would return in their day.
As each year
passes, there are more and more reasons to believe as the Biblical prophecies
come more and more alive. Let’s take some time this week and maybe next to look
at a few events and signs converging together to make believers look up for
their redemption. Peter reminds us that many will ask where Jesus is and why He
has not come.
Above all, you must remember, that in the last
days, scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They
will say, “Where is this coming He promised? Ever since our ancestors died,
everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 2 Peter 3:3-4
As far as God is
concerned, we are just entering the third day after Jesus died. What do I mean
by that?
But do not forget, this one thing, dear friends.
With the Lord, a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day.
The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness.
Instead, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to
come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:8-9
As we enter this
“third day” after the ascension of Jesus, and think of all that is lining up in
prophecy, look up. Our redemption is drawing near.
When these things begin to take place, stand up
and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near. Luke 21:28
Father,
Open our hearts and minds to the Scriptures that tell us of
the seasons of Your return. No one knows the exact date or hour, but we feel
Your holy footsteps drawing ever near.
In Jesus name,
Amen
