The day dawned gloomy, damp and cool. The news did not
brighten the day; a young boy’s death, a fire and a car accident. It is a habit
and a pattern of society to look at the tragic before the triumphant. The
headlines take center stage. The same can hold true in our own lives.
Choosing to look
beyond the tragic headlines, even our own, takes discipline and experience. The
tragedies in life can be taken out and looked at in minute detail; what we were
wearing, the sights and smells, and the reactions of those around us.
God can use the
tragedies for His good. Those experiences, the details, sights and sounds can
be used in our compassion for others. Our trust in Him grows. Christ is there
in the middle of the mire, in the deepest pit, through the sights and smells of
the pain, in each and every detail. He was there and will remain now and
forevermore.
He lifted
me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and
gave me a firm place to stand. Psalm
40:2
We wait, Lord, to be lifted up to
You.
Father,
Show us how to use our challenges and sorrows to bring comfort
to others. Your ways are beyond our imaginings. Thank You for lifting us up
when we need it most.
In Jesus name,
Amen
