The Word of our God is our greatest weapon in staying
out of the grips of the enemy. In the chapter on the armor of God (Ephesians 6)
the Word of God is our sword. Let the Word of God dwell in you richly in all
wisdom. (Colossians 3:16)
Joshua was
one of just two of the original group of Israelites to walk into the promised
land. King David remained a man after God’s own heart after turning away and
sinning against Him. What can we learn from these two men about following God
and His heart?
Keep
this book of the law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that
you may be careful to do everything written in it. Than you will be prosperous
and successful. Joshua 1:8
Blessed
is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that
sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law
of the Lord, and who meditates on the law day and night. Psalms 1:1-2
Does
meditating on God’s Word day and night sound like an impossible quest? As you
study and develop a hunger and a thirst for more of God’s Word, it becomes a
privilege and a way of life. This is the Word of the Sovereign Lord, the One
who loves you. The One who died for you. Listen to Him. Meditate on His Word
for you day and night. The answers are waiting.
Dear Father in heaven,
Your Word has life and power for us. The answers to
daily living are written for us. The Word has great wisdom. It holds the wisdom
of Your great heart for us and Your unfailing love. Help us to develop an
undying thirst for it in our day-to-day habits.
In Jesus name,
Amen
