We’ve all been there; in the depths of a pit, stuck
in the mud and mire of our past. We are left with wounds. We suffer with shame.
There is a trail of mess in all of our lives.
We hear the gospel. We read the Word and we believe. Jesus begins to
take away the hurt, the shame. He forgives it all.
He
lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire. He set my feet on a
rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
Psalm 40:2
“Come
now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. Though your sins are like
scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they
shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18
Our past
messes and hurts are forgiven. We can offer forgiveness and we are set free.
Jesus continues to heal our past. He walks with us and changes us in our
present. And He offers us a future filled with perfection and love forever.
We
forgive, but we do not forget and because of that, God can use our messes to
become our message. Our stories become a part of His and we tell others about
the transforming power of Christ. Our messes are a testimony to who He is and
we can offer the same love, forgiveness and compassion He first gave us.
Let
the redeemed of the Lord tell their story-those He redeemed from the hand of
the foe. Psalm 107:2
Let His
story become yours. You fit in just perfectly for this time in history. Your
story makes a difference. Let Him use your messes, your hurts, your lessons to
show His healing power. You are changed and others may want to know the reason for the hope within you.
Dear Lord,
Somehow you use our past mistakes, along with the
suffering we have been through to show Your glory. Teach us how to use our past
as a way to share our message about You. Thank you for Your forgiveness, for
helping us out of the pits of our past.
In Jesus name
amen
