Changing Our Moods

Wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? Co-workers annoying you? Someone cut you off in traffic? Angry at your spouse? Time for a pity party? We all have our moods. The world doesn’t understand us. No one else gets it. Why don’t they follow the rules?

The humbling sacrifice of our God takes the puff out of our pride. He died for us while we were yet sinners. His example, His love, His understanding allows us to give others the benefit of the doubt, to forgive when it seems impossible, to smile when we feel like our faces might crack.

Get rid of bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32

A perfect and holy God forgives us. We know, because of Him, we will live forever. That is something to be grateful about every single day. Be kind because He is kind. Show compassion because He is compassionate. Be grateful for His grace. Look for the blessings. They are all around us. We have the breath of life today. We are forgiven. Can we show mercy and grace to others with a smile? I think I’ll give it a try today.

Dear Father,
Your Son, Jesus changes even our moods. Move us away from grumpiness, pride, anger and unforgiveness. Let us show the kindness and goodness You have shown us. Help us to see others through Your loving eyes. Give us gratefulness today.

Amen
