Love

These passages were read at my wedding and again at our daughter’s wedding. Maybe yours too? These words of unconditional love are worth repeating over and over again. God’s definition of love is a pattern worth pursuing. We will fall short again and again, but how beautiful it is to put others first in our lives.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others. It is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

When love works, it encourages and enlightens. It lifts up and it serves others. Love never fails.

Father,

Your love for us never fails. These earthly lives of ours will never match Your undying and sacrificial love. Your kind of love is so much more. Teach us how to love in the name of Jesus.

Amen
