It may seem that
God is nowhere near. We believe we deserve to be happy. We leap in with both
feet when something feels good or right. And God reminds us, not to follow our
flesh but to follow the Holy Spirit. The Spirit will guide us into
righteousness, into peace, into hope. The temporary “happiness” depends on
circumstances that we believe we deserve. Following the Holy Spirit will please
God.
For it is
God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.
Philippians 2:13
This verse gives me
a sense of relief. It is God, through the Holy Spirit who works in us and
allows us to act on what pleases Him. I wonder what would happen, if before we
jump in recklessly, we waited and watched for what would please our God.
Father,
We want to please You more than ourselves. Teach us Your ways.
Show us which direction to go and where to step next.
