God’s character can be seen in the image of Christ.
This week I want us to look into this character trait of God; His graciousness.
Several verses in the Bible share the same or similar words to describe God.
Let’s peek at these verses together as a reminder to our hearts.
And
He passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the
compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” Exodus 34:6
But
You are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and
abounding in love. Therefore You did not desert them. Nehemiah 9:17b
But
You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in
love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15
The
Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. Psalm 103:8
The
Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. Psalm 145:8
Rend
your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord, your God, for He is
gracious and compassionate and slow to anger and abounding in love, and He
relents from sending calamity. Joel 2:13
Do you
have those days of doubt? You aren’t doing enough. You don’t measure up. How
can God love you? Right now, this minute, read the verses above over again. Meditating
and placing God’s Words in our hearts and bringing them to mind when we have
those moments, those days, those doubts can change our attitudes.
God’s
grace flows with compassion and love. Not just love, but abounding love! He is
rich in love. He is faithful to us, even when we are not faithful to Him. Bask
in His grace and love and remind yourself daily. He is gracious and
compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
Dear Father,
Thank You for reminding us and repeating over and
over again in Your precious Word how much we are loved. We need to hear it. We
are Your children, called for a purpose, united in love. Be gracious to us
today.
In Jesus name,
Amen
