Faith Comes By Hearing

Though Jesus was fully God, He humbled Himself for us. He emptied Himself in obedience and became one of us.

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage. Rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death-even death on a cross.  Philippians 2:6-8

The Creator of the universe humbled Himself to be a servant to all. How can we say no to the gift He offers? And how can we stay pride-filled depending on our own merit? Let’s humble ourselves before Him. He now sits in glory and He will come next time, not as the Lamb of God, but as King of Kings and Lord of Lords and every knee will bow. Some of the last Words of Christ in the very last chapter of the Bible continue to offer the invitation:

I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David and the bright Morning Star. The Spirit and the bride say, “Come,” and let the one who hears say, “come.” Let the one who is thirsty come and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. Revelation 22:16-17

Take the free gift of everlasting life. Believe on Him. He says, “Come.”

Jesus,
Allow us to share this gift with others. It is filled with grace and love. And it was given with deep pain and suffering. We accept the gift of the water of life.

amen
