The
gift of evangelism that we looked at yesterday is often paired with the gift of
apostleship. Other gifts may be present in this unique gifting such as faith,
encouragement, leadership and teaching. Those with the gift of apostleship have
a heart to start and develop new churches, to work cross-culturally or to
impact multiple ministries.
The term, “sent out” is the common term
for a missionary. Working with a group of inner city kids or working with several
diverse groups in ministry might describe someone with this gift. Paul wrote
much of the New Testament as an apostle to the Gentiles. Paul set up many
churches, including one in the city of Ephesus.
Paul,
an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to God’s holy people in Ephesus,
the faithful in Christ Jesus. Ephesians
1;1
If
you have a missionary’s heart and the ability to plant churches and easily work
cross-culturally with an entrepreneurial spirit this might be your unique and
rare gift.
Dear
Lord,
We
thank You for the leadership of those with the gift of apostleship. Planting,
building and forming new churches across the world is happening in miraculous
ways. We thank You for every single person working under the challenging and
blessed gift of apostleship.
Amen
