It
was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be
evangelists. Ephesians 4:11
Those with the spiritual gift of
evangelism boldly communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. They
have an uncanny ability to know when someone might be ready to receive the good
news of Christ. They find ways to bring
Jesus into almost every conversation. They may understand how to meet the
practical needs of an unbeliever in order to introduce Jesus.
Those with this gift have compassion and a
heart for the lost. They seek ways to answer questions and doubts and,
subsequently, to find answers. They enjoy being out in different neighborhoods
and cultures rather than doing ministry or serving one church. They may not
always understand that other believers do not have this strong gift of
evangelizing.
Do you enjoy teaching others how to share
faith? Do you often find ways to direct conversations to Jesus? Does a person’s
conversion bring you joy? Do you enjoy being around non-Christians looking for
opportunities to share faith?
Dear
Lord,
Thank
You for those willing to move out into our communities and around the world in
an effort to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with a hurting world. Thank
You for their willingness to take risks with their very lives, sacrificially
leaving their homes to serve You. We thank you for the evangelists of Your
Word.
Amen
