Jesus understands fear and pain. He left the
glories of heaven to walk as one of us. When you are scared or lost, agonized
with worry, or helpless with grief, Jesus will walk with you and lift your
burden. Listen to His heartfelt prayer to His Father in the Garden of
Gethsemane.
“Father,
if you are willing, take this cup from me, yet not My will, but Yours be done.”
An angel from heaven appeared to Him and strengthened Him. And being in
anguish, He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat was like drops of blood
falling to the ground. Luke 22:42-44
This prayer may echo
in the heart of all of us at one time or another. We cry out to God to take
away our pain, to heal our loved one, to remove the impossible from our lives.
We pray earnestly and in suffering, just as Jesus did. Notice His Words, “…yet not My will but Yours be done.”
Sometimes, just as Jesus knew, we know we have to go through the
suffering, feel the grief, walk through the hurt. He knew where He was going
and why. Jesus paid a high cost to save us. Remember His anguish and His
suffering this week as we get ready to celebrate Easter. Our earthly pain and
suffering will be redeemed one day. All of it and in the meantime, God can use
it for His glory. We don’t understand in full, but Jesus does.
Lord,
We walk with You through this Holy Week, trying to
comprehend how You did all of this for us. There are no words deep enough to
thank You. We honor You and praise You today.
Amen
